Sofie is a recent graduate from Washington University in St. Louis who has always held a passion for helping others, both in the education sphere and out. Starting out of high school, she joined a learning center specializing in SAT prep classes. Through her experience as a SAT English and Math Instructor, she developed techniques for helping to engage her students and keep them motivated during the long road of preparing for standardized testing.

Throughout her undergraduate studies, she continued working part-time as a teaching assistant for various courses, where she further developed her tutoring skills in different environments such as virtual, group classes, and one-on-one. Her dedication to helping other students learn drove her to volunteer as a high school STEM and ACT/SAT tutor where she further honed her technique of asking thoughtful questions to better understand each student's individual needs.

Following graduation, she spent a year working part-time as an MCAT test prep tutor teaching organic chemistry, general chemistry, physics, sociology, psychology, biochemistry, biology, and reading comprehension, as well as general scientific analysis and test prep techniques. From her experience, she solidified her abilities as a subject matter expert and teacher, with the ability to motivate and improve the success of each student. Her approach to tutoring relies on asking thoughtful questions, active feedback during learning, demonstrations, and cooperative problem solving to really build a strong foundation for the student to best independently then solve problems.
