Sarah’s initiation into the college application process was by guiding herself as the first person in her family to apply to college within the United States. She started her counseling career by editing college application essays and then obtained a certificate in college counseling.
Over the last decade, Sarah has worked with numerous students of varying backgrounds, including students with learning differences and those from immigrant families. Sarah has helped these students apply to a variety of private universities, out-of-state colleges, and UCs. She enjoys helping students discover schools that they are passionate about, and she especially loves guiding them in expressing themselves to these colleges through their writing. Sarah’s expertise is crafting college application essays that reflect students’ unique perspectives and contributions. It is always her goal that students walk away from working with her with a deeper understanding of who they are and a greater confidence in what they can bring to and get out of their college experience.
Sarah’s counseling philosophy is driven by an empathetic understanding of the application experience. While she knows that there will likely always be some stress in the college application journey, her personal goal is to minimize it as much as possible. To do so, she meets students where they are and breaks down the application process into manageable steps.
