Helena has been advising students on undergraduate and graduate school applications for 12 years. Her bachelor’s degree in English allowed her to develop strong editing and storytelling skills, which are crucial in college essay mentoring, while her master’s degree in education has empowered her to create various strategies for different personalities to facilitate students’ development.
Having lived in four states on the West and East Coasts, Helena has met thousands of students and families from diverse backgrounds and interests. She is also highly skilled in college selection, major exploration, profile enrichment, resume revision, essay editing, recommendation requests, interview preparation, and the completion of other application-related documents.
In recent years, Helena has forged connections with current and former admissions officers from top-tiered colleges, which have significantly shaped her understanding of colleges’ expectations and desired candidates. In addition to U.S. colleges, she has advised on applications to colleges in the UK, Singapore, and Canada.
She has also worked with 8th-11th graders to find opportunities to enrich their profiles and set monthly goals towards their final success. She pays a lot of attention to opportunities inside and outside of school, and every year, she makes sure students have a strong summer plan, which may include a summer program, an internship, a volunteering opportunity, a passion project, test preparation, and/or other enriching, beneficial experiences. She aims to help students discover their own strategies and ultimately get into their best-fit colleges.
